Definitions

  • Reason - "the capacity for consciously making sense of things, applying logic, for establishing and verifying facts, and changing or justifying practices, institutions, and beliefs based on new or existing information."
  • Logic - Use of valid reasoning.
    • Deductive Reasoning - links premises with conclusions
      • It is possible to have a deductive argument that is logically valid but is not sound. Fallacious arguments often take that form.
  • rhetoric - being persuasive, getting people to agree with you.
  • debate - interactive argument
